Dear Parents and Students,
There are some important things that you need to know in order to understand how we approach High School level US History in my classroom.
*One of the most important things to know is that I expect students to keep all assignments organized in a binder according to the due dates. In other words don't throw anything away. At the end of each marking period you will receive a test grade for your binder (if you keep your assignments and take notes it is an easy A, to average into your grade).
*If you are taking US History I or II, you should be aware of your CONSISTENT homework assignments for the year (see homework tab). Every assignment must have your full name on it in an MLA heading. All assignments are transmitted through Google Classroom.
*Parents may sign up to monitor google classrooms.
*Class attendance is mandatory and I expect students to be present in class, prepared, with their binder and writing tool, ready to contribute.
**Finally, communication is very important to being a successful student in any class. If you are sick, have a special situation that will interfere with your work, or are feeling overwhelmed by the class, please see me during my office hours.

Grading Method:
Each Chapter will have four reading assignments, and a test.There is also a notebook grade each marking period worth a test grade.
Each assignment is worth 25 points and the test is worth 100 points.
Every Marking period will have project grade worth 100 points
That is a total of 200 points per chapter, so the first two marking periods would shape up like this:
1st Marking Period
Reconstruction (review) 225 pts.
Western Expansion
Populism
Industrialists
The Cities of the Gilded Age
Participation (notebook) 100 pts
First semester rough draft 100 pts
2nd Marking Period
First semester paper 100 pts (2nd marking period)
Chapter 5 200 pts
Chapter 6 200 pts
Chapter 7 200 pts
Classwork 200 pts
Participation 100 pts
Academic Integrity (Plagiarism)
PLEASE BE SURE ALL WORK IS YOUR OWN. Plagiarism or inappropriate help has consequences. All ideas or source materials not considered to be common knowledge that are obtained from your readings must be footnoted. Partially or wholly copying the work or ideas (oral or written) produced by others without proper citation is considered plagiarism and is not acceptable. Similarly, you should not allow others to copy from you. This refers to all work undertaken for this class.
Student Requirements
A. You’ll need the following items EVERYDAY.
B. All class work and tests must be in pen and final draft form unless I have stated otherwise. Always present your best work. The quality of your work will affect your grades. If you don’t take the time to complete the assignment properly the first time, you must re-do it.
C. If your printer isn’t working, you must still hand in your homework. You may also email your assignment to me under rare circumstances. However, it is your responsibility to come see me BEFORE CLASS to ask for it. I will not come find you. Overall, make sure you have a backup plan since your printer isn’t an excuse for a late assignment.
D. Grades drop on late work. If you are absent or excused from school, your assignment is due the day you return.
Classroom Rules and Procedures:
All school rules apply in my classroom and throughout the building.
Electronic devices such as phones, i-pods and the like are not permitted.
Ear buds may NOT be worn in class.
Common courtesy is expected at all times.
