Student lecture assignment (AP 2nd Marking Period)
As part of the required research component of this class, each student will research and present upon one relevant topic, chosen by the teacher.
When you get your topic, you will typically have two weeks to prepare. You may use Power-point slides, but they are not required.
Consider yourself the teacher. How will you relate the information to the class so that they will remember it and connect it to something they already know about? You may play a game, tell a story, lecture, or lead an activity. Make sure you include relevant information and vocabulary from the textbook. You will be graded up for handouts, notes, and relevant extemporaneous chat.
You may take up the entire class period or just 15 minutes. Please let me know your expected time requirements so I can fill up the rest of class-time.
I will begin tapping students on the shoulder with topics starting with the highest grade earner from the first marking period. When you are chosen, you may pick a partner who has not yet presented or you may choose to work alone. If for any reason you have not presented by the end of the marking period, you will be assigned an alternative assignment.
This first year, we are in uncharted territory, so I expect these to evolve as we go along.
