Grading Method

Students and parents often ask how a teacher arrives at a certain grade. Prior Practice in Lodi High-School History Department encourages teachers to give students the opportunity to earn at least 800 points per quarter.
Missing work from either absence or negligence will adversely affect one's grade. I DO NOT interrupt class to check missing work; see me before or after school to get credit for late work.
I generally check work in notebooks and DO NOT collect it.

To avoid discrepancies in grading, you should hold on to all work until grades are in.

EXTRA CREDIT:
I do not give extra credit.
I do however give various opportunities to raise your average. Students who take advantage of these opportunities will have the denominator raised with the numerator (for a 25 point opportunity, instead of earned points over 1000 it becomes earned points over 1025).
Students carrying an A+ average will periodically be given the choice to be excused from assignments. Excused assignments will show a smaller denominator (example: if you are excused from a 25 point assignment, your score is earned points over 975).
There is NO WAY to attain an average of more than 100%
The first step to raising your grade is to complete ALL missing assignments!

Student success on the AP Exam is directly linked to the steadfastness of students in homework completion.
Reading assignments will be enforced through quizzes.
Each Quarter in APUSH will be based on 1000 earned points.

Quizzes
(based on CONTENT from readings)...............100 pts.
Writing assignments.........................................200
Chapter TESTS................................................400
Research Based assignments..........................100
Notebook checks..............................................100

There is also an opportunity to raise your grade by showing up for the Timed Practice Test on the first Friday of PARCC testing.  (100 pts. averaged into your grade.

The Fourth Quarter will shape up differently, since it is mostly after the AP test. There is a research based TED project (see fourth Quarter Tab) that will account for a large part of your grade.
