About Me

Having been a teacher for 15 years, I began teaching history at Dumont High School in May of 2023. My current courses include US History and World History-Honors. I have enjoyed being an advocate and assistant to Dumont's Pride Club as well as participating in our school's Culture and Climate Committee. A police officer for 28 years,  I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College, and I completed my field practicum in psychology at the University of Wales in Cardiff, UK. After retiring as a police officer, I earned my  Certificate of Education with Advanced Standing at Ramapo College of NJ.

My Teaching Philosophy

My academic philosophy explores the connection between history and human self-identity. I consider myself to be a life-long learner, and as a teacher, I want to expose my students to that love of learning so they can see themselves as learners.
In my classroom, I’ve discovered that when I build a rapport with students as individuals, we all can broaden our body of knowledge. When students share their personal stories and feelings, they can relate to the content of the lesson better and I can help them focus on relating their personal experience to the lesson.
